Family Solicitor

We are seeking an experienced Solicitor (minimum 5 years PQE) to manage our busy Family department which covers a wide variety of areas including divorce, financial remedy, separation, injunction and public and private children matters.

Accustomed to handling matters from inception to completion, and experience of conducting your own advocacy, the successful candidate will take over an existing caseload of predominantly privately-funded divorce, financial remedy and private children matters. A demonstrable appreciation of good practice in private client billing procedures and understanding of Legal Aid and CCMS is essential. Experience of injunction work an advantage. Panel membership and/supervisor status preferred.  

Based at our Hartlepool office, with a requirement to cover branch offices at Peterlee and Catterick Garrison, you will be required to attend clients, over the telephone, in the office, at a branch office or at another location outside of the office; to take instructions and provide advice, showing an ability to work to tight deadlines, prioritising your workload and progressing matters accordingly.  You will need to have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and be able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills with a range of people from all backgrounds and work as a team member with different levels of staff. You will need to be self-serving using Microsoft packages and have a current full driving licence.

 

Paralegal

We are seeking a Paralegal to support the firm generally.

You will need to have good basic academic qualifications, be self-serving using Microsoft packages and have a current full driving licence. You will need good communication skills, both written and oral, and be able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills with a range of people from all backgrounds and work as a team member with different levels of staff. 

You will be required to attend clients, over the telephone, in the office, at a branch office or at another location outside of the office; to take instructions, showing an ability to work to tight deadlines, prioritising your workload accordingly, undertaking associated administrative tasks, managing files and seeking supervision in more complex matters.

A "can do" attitude and an ability to take ownership and resolve problems is a must, together with a sense of urgency and an excellent approach to client care.

After a period of review, there may be an opportunity for a training contract.

 

Business Admin Apprentice

We are looking for a confident, well-presented individual who can show a willingness to learn, an eagerness to assist and who demonstrates a sense of motivation and urgency.

GCSE in English and Mathematics is essential. GCSE in Information Technology and Business Administration desirable together with a demonstrable basic knowledge of Windows based applications, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook would suffice.

We have 5 fee earning departments, all requiring different levels of assistance at different times.

Tasks will include

  1. Dealing with incoming and post, DX and delivering internal mail
  2. Preparing outgoing Royal Mail post and delivering to Post Office each evening
  3. Preparing and delivering outgoing DX mail to the Document Exchange each evening
  4. Delivering mail to local businesses
  5. Photocopying, filing, faxing, document binding, laminating
  6. Answering the switchboard and receiving visitors on a daily basis to cover lunch & breaks
  7. Covering the Peterlee office in times of holiday/absence.
  8. Ordering, checking and storing/delivering stationery
  9. Stocking the printer rooms regularly
  10. Ordering, checking and storing office supplies
  11. Updating relevant file information using database systems
  12. Archiving/retrieval of closed files
  13. Researching and collating information to enable decision-making by others
  14. Word processing of documents using digital dictation
  15. Adhering to policies and procedures in the office manual

A "can do" attitude and an ability to take ownership and resolve problems is a must. Experience of audio typing desirable, together with a sense of urgency and an excellent approach to client care.

 

Junior Secretary

We are seeking a Junior Legal Secretary to provide general assistance to the firm.  The role is primarily based at Hartlepool but some Peterlee branch office cover may be occasionally necessary.

Previous office experience, accurate audio/copy typing and a good telephone manner essential. Some legal experience would be an advantage.We have 5 fee earning departments, all requiring different levels of assistance at different times.

Duties will include opening, closing and archiving files, data input, audio typing, filing, producing file notes, court documents and correspondence to clients.  Head office reception cover will be required on a rota basis.A "can do" attitude and an ability to take ownership and resolve problems is a must. Experience of audio typing desirable, together with a sense of urgency and an excellent approach to client care.
