DOUGAL SWAN: PARTNER
I was trained in London and after qualifications in 1978 continued to work in the City of London and latterly the West End, before deciding that the attractions of life outside the capital were irresistible.
I joined Smith & Graham in December 1990 and became a partner a year or two later.
I am the firm's de facto Managing Partner and head of the firm's Civil Litigation and Commercial Units, working closely with my fellow partners and solicitors to continually enhance the levels of service provided by the firm, across the board.
The law is in the process, as it has been for several years, of fundamental change. The way the lawyers practice and how they inter-relate with clients has been the subject of detailed scrutiny, quite rightly, and the legal profession has changed and continues to do so.
These are exciting times and everyone at Smith & Graham is encouraged and trained to welcome the best of the new proposals and changes and to improve delivery of the service they as individuals provide to our clients.
My chosen area of practice is now firmly concentrated across commercial litigation and commercial contract work.
I am a keen, if poor, golfer. I enjoy sailing when the opportunity presents itself and the development of my garden. World history and archaeology are of particular interest.
