Himat Sidhu

Himat qualified as a solicitor in 2014 having undertaken his training contract with a criminal law firm in the West Midlands. During his time there he worked in the criminal law department covering all aspects of criminal work from police station to Magistrates and Crown Court matters.

Shortly after qualifying he returned to his native northeast roots and worked for two well-known law firms in Newcastle specialising in personal injury work. During his time at these firms, he gained experience within personal injury, specifically in industrial disease and contested road traffic accident claims.

Himat then moved to a firm based in Sunderland who specialised in claimant medical negligence work. At this firm he gained vast experience on a wide variety of medical negligence matters. After nearly five years at this firm Himat then had a short spell as a commercial property solicitor with a well-known firm in Newcastle. He was then recruited by a large multi-national firm to return to doing medical negligence work. From this role he subsequently joined Smith & Graham in 2021 as a Partner and head of our PI and Medical Negligence department. He continues to pursue his passion for medical negligence work by managing a large and varied case load of complex matters.

Himat also jointly heads up the Debt Recovery and related litigation services department.

Away from work Himat is a keen football fan and is a season ticket holder at his beloved Newcastle United, he also has an interest in a variety of other sports such as tennis, golf, MMA and boxing.
